Updating this patch is a bit trickier than usual, and the size of the April 28 download is not small, so fans will want to jump on it sooner rather than later. Instead of the standard one and done download, Activision seems to have split the download into two parts. So before anyone can jump into another match of multiplayer or drop into Warzone, they will need to manually download the patch.

How to Download the New Call of Duty Update for Modern Warfare and Warzone
As previously mentioned, the April 28th patch comes in two parts. The first part of the update is downloaded the same way as usual. So if a player has automatic downloads on their console for updates, for example, then the first part of the path will probably have already updated itself. Alternatively, booting up the game as per usual is the other way to start the first part of the update, if automatic updates aren’t in place.
Next, players will need to turn on the game and hover over Campaign, Multiplayer, or Spec-Ops. Doing this will show a message that reads “please install Campaign, Multiplayer, or Spec-Ops” (whichever mode was selected). Clicking on this will jump players to a different section of the game called “Game Installs.” Now players will need to download the second part of the patch, this being Data Pack 1.
Players will need to restart their game once Data Pack 1 is downloaded, but that will complete the entire patch. Additionally, if the game ever says “Fetching game installs,” and is stuck there, without showing Data Pack 1, the player should restart their game and that should resolve the problem.
The new patch sees the return of Shoot the Ship, as well as other fun playlists being added to Modern Warfare multiplayer. It does seem like a lot of work just to get into the matches, but hopefully, it’ll be worth the wait.
The battle royale is also seeing some big changes, including alterations to the gas circle for Warzone, a brand new dangerous but rewarding contract, and a new item. Warzone players should be thrilled with the additions in the update, and excited to see how much Infinity Ward is supporting the game in general.
Shoot House is one of the favorite maps of Modern Warfare for many players, so being able to play on that map all day long in a playlist is a dream come true for many. But standing around being confused about an update is a nightmare. This new update style is certainly not ideal, but once players get the patch completed, they can jump back into the fun.
